Iowa State Fair Parade

Iowa State Fair Parade

Join the Iowa Democratic Party during the Iowa State Fair Parade!

Held the night before the Iowa State Fair each year, we will be among high school marching bands, floats, cool cars, and special causes as we stroll through downtown Des Moines!

Lineup will begin at 5:15pm, and the parade will begin at 6:15 p.m in downtown Des Moines on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. The parade route starts at the State Capitol Complex and marches west on Grand to 15th Street, and the Iowa Democratic Party will be set up at Lot 18 on Des Moines Street and East 12th Street.

Only vehicles that will be traveling down the parade route will be allowed on the Capitol complex. Parade participants that will be riding with someone else or walking should park near the end of the route, at the State Fairgrounds. There is an option of taking the free “D-Line” shuttle to the parade until 6:00pm, and riders can find stops along Grand Avenue and Locust Street.

Throwing or handing out candy, water balloons, promotional material or any other items from entry is prohibited.

Masks are welcome!

Come and join fellow Democrats as we march through downtown Des Moines, and enjoy the celebration!
