Join this free public event. USDA farm policy affects the structure and viability of Iowa’s farm sector and therefore it impacts the overall rural economy.  Farming, resource stewardship, food, fiber, community. . .

Panelists will offer a variety of views on farm policy and proposals for 2023 (5-yr) farm bill content.  Federal candidates provide brief comments to follow.  Panel and invited federal candidates engage with audience comments/questions.

    Moderator:
John Norris, former Chief of Staff for USDA, and US Minister-Counselor for Agriculture to UN Rome-based agencies including the UN Food & Agriculture Organization and World Food Program.

Randy Caviness, Greenfield, farmer, Adair County and state Farm Bureau leadership; former Director, Soil Conservation Districts of Iowa, ISU Extension Council service; county wind energy development group;
JD Scholten, Sioux City, independent farmer advocate; presenter – “Reforming American Food Retail Markets” USDA/Yale University collaborative;
Francis Thicke, Fairfield, dairy farmer; member Farmers Union; PhD in soil fertility; former program leader, USDA-Extension Soil Science.
