Cindy Axne

Cindy Axne is the current US Representative for the Third Congressional District. She serves on the Agriculture Committee and the Financial Services Committee. She shares the distinction of the first women from Iowa to be elected to the US House with Abby Finkenauer. She is also a small business owner.
Representative Axne’s campaign focuses on economic growth, healthcare for all, and public-school protection. She lives in West Des Moines with her husband and two sons.

Deidre DeJear

Deidre DeJear is the founder of Caleo Enterprises and was the Democratic nominee for Secretary of State in 2018. As a student at Drake University, she co-founded the nonprofit Back to School Iowa. She was also a coach for the East High girls basketball team. If she is elected, she would be the first Black, female governor in the nation’s history.
DeJear’s campaign focuses on economic and rural development, education and technology, and accessible and affordable healthcare, among other issues. Her campaign slogan is “Iowa is worth the work.” She lives in Des Moines with her husband.

Abby Finkenauer

Abby Finkenauer is the former US Representative for the first congressional district, former Iowa House Representative for the 99th district, and is a current senior advisor for The Next 50, a group working toward making politics more accessible to the next generation.
Finkenauer shares the distinction of the first women from Iowa to be elected to the US House with Cindy Axne. She is also the youngest woman to ever flip a congressional seat from red to blue and the youngest woman to ever pass a bill in the House of Representatives. Finkenauer’s campaign focuses on union rights, the agricultural sector, and issues vital to her generation and young voters. She currently lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband.

Mike Franken

Mike Franken retired from the Navy after a 39-year career in 2017 as a three-star vice admiral. He is a former consultant for the Defense Department in Washington DC. During his military career, he commanded twenty-four ships, oversaw military forces in Africa, was the first director of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, and was the first military officer to serve as a legislative fellow for Senator Ted Kennedy.
Admiral Franken’s campaign focuses on reducing the political gridlock in Washington, enhancing the quality of life of Iowans, and making health care more accessible and affordable. He currently lives with his wife in Sioux Center, his hometown.

Glenn Hurst

Glenn Hurst is a physician working in rural western Iowa, the medical director for three nursing homes, and a city council member in Minden. He is also the Chair of IDP’s Rural Caucus and Chair of the 3rd Congressional District Central Committee. Dr. Hurst has been active in the Indivisible community from the start, helping to found branches in Nebraska and Western Iowa, and writing a book (Where Your Hands Are: Memoir of an Indivisible) about the movement.
Dr. Hurst’s campaign focuses on healthcare (promoting “Medicare For All” and codifying Roe v Wade), jobs (emphasizing wage increases and union support), supporting rural Iowa, and combatting climate change. Dr. Hurst lives in Minden with his wife and four children.
