DESCRIPTION:June Central Committee Meeting to feature County Auditor Jamie Fitzgerald \nWe’re also pleased to feature candidates Tiara Mays-Sims and Tony Thompson \nOur June 24 Central Committee will feature three great speakers. First\, we are delighted that our outstanding County Auditor\, Jamie Fitzgerald\, will be our main speaker. Jamie has been our Auditor since 2007 and does a super job informing us of the rules and regulations that govern voting in Iowa! Jamie will go over the fall election timeline and will discuss relevant data from the June 4 primary election. He promises to leave plenty of time for your questions. You will not want to miss Jamie’s presentation as we all want to be on the same page going into the general election! \nIn addition\, we will hear from two of our great primary candidates for the Iowa House\, Tiara Mays-Sims and Tony Thompson. Tiara is our nominee in House District 43\, which primarily covers Johnston. Tiara is a 2013 ISU graduate and earned her graduate degree from Purdue University Global in 2018. Her employment experience is in the area of managed care contract negotiations. Tiara was recently elected as the first woman of color to serve on the Heartland Area Education Agency Board of Directors! \nTony Thompson is our nominee in House District 45\, a wide-ranging district that goes from Saylorville Reservoir in the northwest corner of the county\, across the northern portion of the county\, and then all the way down to Runnels in the southeastern corner of the county. Tony is a 4th generation Iowan with life-long ties to the district. He traveled the world building homes for Habitat for Humanity\, was the first full time General Manager for the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity Restore\, and more recently has focused on Prudent Produce\, a food hub that grows the market for local foods in central \nIowa – it is co-located on his family’s century farm. \nTiara and Tony are two reasons we will be celebrating taking Republican-held seats this fall! Please join us on June 24 to hear them and Auditor Jamie Fitzgerald. Polk County Democratic Party Central Committee meetings always start at 6:30 p.m. and are held at River Place County Office Building\, 2309 Euclid Avenue\, Des Moines. You do not need to be a Central Committee member to attend. All Democrats are welcome!
